Objectives of collaboration
  • To promote excellence by supporting challenging and innovative collaborative research carried out at the FANUHOH and the FAHUJI.
  • To sponsor research focusing strongly on exchange of young Master and/or Ph.D. students.
  • To provide seed money, to facilitate and promote future initiation of research projects by other funding bodies (e.g., DFG, EU, GIF, DIP).
  • To enhance contribution to and benefit from, an equitable and balanced cooperation.
  • To enhance international activities and research.

Proposal submission deadline
Submission deadline for proposals is Dec. 10, 2017 (15:00) at the Office of Research Affairs at FAHUJI. Submission of proposals includes one PDF file (arielafl@savion.huji.ac.il) and one hard copy to the Office of Research Affairs at FAHUJI.

Eligibility

  • Submissions are open to all FAHUJI and FANUHOH scientists who meet the criteria outlined below with the restriction of one "rest" cycle from the year following a successful submission.
  • Each investigator may only submit one joint application.

Level of funding and project duration

  • Funding for a collaborative research project is limited to a period of 2 years.
  • The overall budget for each small 2 year project is approximately 23,000 € per side or 50,000€ for each large project.

Application structure

  • The joint research program should be presented in the form of a single coordinated application, in which the roles and tasks of each partner are clearly defined.
  • The proposals should include the following:

      i.   Project title, names and affiliations of submitting scientists and full contact details.
      ii.  Abstract (maximum one page).
      iii. Body of the proposal (maximum 5 pages) including the following sections:
                A. Background and rationale.
                B. Objectives& hypotheses
                C. Material, methods and experimental approach.
                D. Expected results and outcomes.
                E. Collaboration: clearly indicate the exchange of postgraduates.
                F. Prospect - potential joint projects for future submissions to external funding agencies.
                G. References (not counted in page limit)

Appendixes
      i.   Short CV of each of the submitting scientists, including academic background, current position held at University, and a list of selected and project relevant publications from the last 5 years.
      ii.   Budget: The results of the funded collaborations will be presented at the joint bi-annual workshop. Both partners are requested to earmark 500 € within the budget (1,000 € per project), to cover expenses for participation in the workshop.


Criteria for proposals evaluation

  • The evaluation criteria fall into three equally evaluated categories:

     A. Scientific innovation, quality and merits.
     B. The potential for the proposed research project to be submitted to an external funding body, upon completion of the project.
     C. Collaboration and exchange of young students between FAHUJI and FANUHOH.

  • Preference is given to new faculty members.
  • The proposals will be evaluated at the FAHUJI.
  • Format: Space: 1½ lines. Font – 12 pt.
