The University of Hohenheim (UHOH), in collaboration with AKY-Technology and partners from the Maghreb region, organized a workshop in Mersin from 10 to 11 February 2025 to develop tailor-made solutions for quinoa processing. AKY-Technology, which has already installed a cleaning line in Greece, presented alternative designs for a compact processing line specifically tailored to the needs of small farmers in the region.Particularly exciting are the expected results on saponin removal from the Greek plant, which will provide valuable insights for further optimization of the technology. During the workshop, the partners had the opportunity to bring in their specific requirements. AKY-Technology was open to adjustments in order to optimally adapt the machines to local conditions.UHOH is coordinating this process in the frame of the Quinoa4Med project in order to develop innovative and sustainable solutions that support small farmers and strengthen regional value chains.
